Stash / Bitbucket Server Training — Legacy Git Repository Management & Modernization

Learn Atlassian Stash (Bitbucket Server): repository management, pull requests, branch permissions, and integration. For enterprises maintaining Bitbucket Server and planning Bitbucket Cloud migration.

What Is Stash / Bitbucket Server?

Stash was the original name for Atlassian's on-premises Git repository management tool, launched in 2012. In 2015, Atlassian renamed Stash to Bitbucket Server to align with their cloud product (Bitbucket Cloud). Bitbucket Server provides Git repository hosting, pull requests with inline comments, branch permissions, and deep integration with the Atlassian ecosystem — Jira, Bamboo, and Confluence. In 2020, Atlassian announced end-of-life for Bitbucket Server, transitioning customers to Bitbucket Cloud or Bitbucket Data Center.

Current Relevance

Stash/Bitbucket Server is end-of-life enterprise Git infrastructure. Atlassian ended server product sales in 2021 and support ended in 2024. Organizations still on Bitbucket Server need to migrate to Bitbucket Cloud, Bitbucket Data Center, or GitHub Enterprise. This course covers: maintaining existing Bitbucket Server deployments during migration planning, understanding the Bitbucket Server→Cloud migration path, and evaluating GitHub Enterprise as an alternative destination.
